It's your basic bread recipe, and it tastes delicious! It's a perfectly airy loaf of bread mixed with a light yeasty taste you've come to love in a loaf of bread. Spread some butter and jam on top and your loaf of bread is complete!
Tips for Making the Best White Bread
- Use Instant Yeast: Instant yeast, also known as rapid-rise yeast, is a type of yeast that doesn't require proofing before using. It can be added directly to the dry ingredients, making the bread-making process faster and easier.

Instructions

Ingredients
- 5 ¼ cups all purpose flour
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ tablespoon yeast
- 1 ½ tablespoon oil
- 2 cups hot water
Instructions
In a mixer bowl with the dough hook attached, stir together the flour, sugar, salt and yeast for approximately one minute.
Add the oil and water and continue stirring for one more minute. Stop the mixer and scrape down the bowl if necessary.
Turn on mixer to low and mix for five minutes. The dough should be sticky after five minutes. If dough is not sticky, add water one teaspoon at a time, stirring just until dough becomes sticky, then turn off mixer immediately.
Divide the dough into two equal pieces and knead a few times until the loaf has a smooth, even consistency.
Place the loaves into two lightly greased bread pans or onto a lightly greased baking sheet as a shaped loaf.
Cover with a towel, or a lightly greased piece of plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm spot for 25 minutes.
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Right before placing the loaves in the oven, slash the loaves several times with a knife, making a ¼ inch deep cut. (If using bread loaf pans, you do not need to do this).
Bake loaves for 20-25 minutes or until loaves are golden brown.

This bread was ridiculous!! I made it in bread pans, and I could not stop eating it. 3 warm slices later with butter and honey... oh my. Perfectly dense, and chewy, and flavorful, AMAZING. My kids loved it, the spaghetti loved it. The only thing to not love it will be my scale! 😉 Seriously, I've been baking bread for years, and this is probably the best white bread I've ever made... and how did it only take an hour?! Thank you so much for this recipie!! I have only been making bread for a year maybe and the ones I've made take well over 2 hrs with two rises and cooking. I needed something quick evaluate of two little boys who love bread didn't want to wait!! It was delicious! I made one in a loaf pan and one shaped on a stone, they both turned out great!

Hi there. As a professional scratch baker myself, looking for a great bread recipe for use at home can be daunting. I will have to try this out and see what the family thinks. I have an old recipe I use for making garlic knots and such, but will try this out and see what the family says. And I am a huge fan of Little Caesars Cheese Bread, and the place I like to get them at has pepperoni cheese bread, and it is to die for. I will let you know what the fam says later.

Just wanted to give you an update. I made the cheese sticks and with the other half of the dough made a loaf of bread. It was simply amazing. We made tuna for the loaf bread and it was gone. And that was our dinner. Going to make a few more loaves this week for the family and for me to take on the road as a truck driver. The cheese bread came out ok, just need to cut it with a pizza cutter instead of a fillet knife. But the kids loved it. Thanks again for a great recipe.

About how much dough do you pull off for rolls, and so you bake them for the same time?

I usually pull off about 3-4 tbsp of dough per roll. I let them rise and then bake them about 17-20 minutes once they've risen.

Any idea what the nutritional value is per slice. I made it and am enjoying but am concerned about over eating it (which is very easy to do) lol

150 calories per slice and 30 carbs. If there are any other nutrition facts you need please let me know. I'm used to the carb counting per slice since my e x was diabetic and I'm always needing the calorie count for me. 🙂
