May have an opportunity to take a position in Tyler. Same position I currently hold in Lake Charles, but with a potential for a higher income. Looking for insights from anyone who currently lives or has lived in the area. TIA

You would be close to great fishing, if that’s your gig.

Haven’t lived there, but my family has a house on Lake Tyler that I go to a few times a year. It’s certainly better than it was 10 years ago. Then I would have said don’t live there unless you’re retired, now I think it would be a nice place to live. Take this with a grain of salt as when I’m there, I don’t really wander into town except to go to the store or eat out.

Great city. Low crime. Rapidly growing. Easy trip to Dallas. Lots of lakes in the area.

Higher income that would probably go further in Tyler than Lake Chuck. Tyler is small but growing. Lots of lakes in the area with a mix of full time and weekend residents. We have a Lakehouse not far from there and love the area. There’s no fine cuisine to be had, though.

Used to be some great all nude strip clubs there. I would definitely make sure before I moved there. Also be prepared to drive for hours to get some beer

This is bs.
Tyler is a really nice community, good place to raise a family.
Dallas / Shreveport nearby.
Clean, crime is much lower and good hunting and fishing, except offshore stuff.

[TYLER, TEXAS] has to be exponentially better than living in Lake Charles.

This, Tyler>Lake Charles. I lived in Longview for a while and spent time in Tyler, not a bad place. Not my favorite spot in TX, but not bad.

Thoughts on Tyler, Tx
Home to one of the best BBQ restaurants in the state, Stanley's.
About 1.5 hours away from Dallas and 1.5 hours away from Shreveport.
You could do a lot worse than Tyler, that's for sure, like Lake Charles. Texas has no state income tax, but does have higher property taxes.
