Soul obelisks are scenery appearing in Menaphos occasionally. Obelisks can be interacted with to gain a large amount of reputation, Runecrafting, and Prayer experience at the cost of receiving some damage over time based on current max health. If Prayer level is under 50, no prayer experience will be awarded, and instead Runecrafting experience is doubled. At level 99, 86 Prayer experience and 137.6 Runecrafting experience are received per drop.

As a soul obelisk spawns, player within the zones of Menaphos and Sophanem will receive the following broadcast message: A soul obelisk has spawned in the [district] district of Menaphos!.

Within the same world, obelisks randomly spawn every 45-80 minutes from the previous spawn time. Each world is independent of its own spawns and does not affect other worlds nor its own corrupted scarab event spawns. Only one obelisk may spawn per world at any time, in one of four possible locations. Upon game maintenances, system updates, and server reboots, no soul obelisks will spawn for the first 40 minutes, as the game considers all obelisks to have just despawned.

This repeatable content has a hard reset.
The next period's content will become available immediately, regardless of whether a player has logged out.
Details: Reset at 00:00 UTC every day

Reputation and Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Players will start gaining overall reputation after completing of the Jack of Spades quest. Initially, no specific district is chosen to gain reputation toward said district, players must choose a designated district by selecting a district icon from the reputation user interface. Afterward, alongside with overall reputation progression, players will also gain district reputation toward their chosen district of imperial, merchant, worker, or port.

Soul obelisks provide 85 base reputation every 4.8 seconds and lasts for 7.5 minutes after spawning; interacting with an obelisk for the entirety of its duration would provide 7,905 base reputation or 1,020 base reputation per minute. There is a daily cap of 236 interactions with soul obelisks, which would take 18.88 minutes to complete. Reputation gained is affected by the 10% boost from Unexpected Diplomacy and the 10% boost from Desert pantheon aura's Feast of Amascut commune.

Players may check their remaining daily cap by selecting "Check progress" option of an obelisk. Attempting to interact with an obelisk after reaching the cap prompts the following dialogue message: Your soul has been weakened too much by the soul obelisk. You cannot attempt to hold back the soul obelisks any more today. This limit is reset at 00:00 UTC every day.

Although the daily base reputation from soul obelisks is 20,060; the starting daily soul obelisk reputation is 25,075. As each Menaphos quest completed increases reputation gained from soul obelisks from each drop by 25% of the daily base, totaling to 5,015 more daily reputation from obelisks for every completed Menaphos quest. Players will earn more reputation per interaction, so the amount of time required to reach daily cap will remain the same. There are 4 Menaphos quests which affects reputation gained listed in the table below.

Strategies[edit | edit source]

To easily find spawns, players can use friends chats.

When searching for obelisks by hopping worlds, players can right-click the entrances to Shifting Tombs in order to quickly travel between districts in Menaphos. This is useful for locating obelisks, and going to the available bank and Grand Exchange in the Merchant district. Alternatively to using fast travel from shifting tombs to search for obelisks, players may stand near the cactus patch in the imperial district, which would allow them to see soul obelisks within the three districts of imperial, merchant, and worker.

It is recommended to place the Eat Food constitution ability, or food on an action bar, which would allow healing without interrupting obelisk channeling. Expensive spices and Enhanced Excalibur should be considered if players possess them, as both lessen the need for food. Players may also reclick Soul Obelisk immediately after seeing XP drop to heal for a small amount after each interaction from 'returning to the world of the living'. Though this come at the cost of two extra tick per interaction. (4.8 seconds per interactions to 6 seconds)

District bank chests, unlocked at Tier 6 for each district, can be used to heal as an alternative to food. Note the [[Menaphos Port district|Port district]] bank chest is too far away to be of any benefit. In that case, use the Shifting Tombs to travel to the bank in the Merchant District or, if unlocked (at tier 6 Imperial District), the bank in the Imperial District.

Beware that the damage from the Soul Obelisk does not activate a portent of restoration, phoenix necklace, or ring of life. A sign of life does get activated, preventing death, and interrupts the channelling so that no more damage is received.

Players who die will visit Death to reclaim their items, or respawn in the Menaphos Plaza. Players who expect to die should bank valuable items prior to going to the obelisk.

Prayers are deactivated upon interacting with the Soul Obelisk, thus making Redemption useless for recovering health.
