Simone Biles wins gold at Paris 2024 — latest
Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, has reclaimed the all-around Olympic gold medal.
In a thrilling final she beat Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade and the defending champion Sunisa Lee.
Biles, the 2016 all-around gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro, and defending champion Lee led the U.S. women to their first team gold since Brazil on Tuesday.
This is Biles’ sixth Olympic gold.

Simone Biles isn't finished yet
Simone Biles has a shot at three more medals because she has qualified to the individual vault (Aug. 3), beam and floor finals (both on Aug. 5).
Jade Carey will also compete in the vault final while Jordan Chiles will join Biles in the floor final. Sunisa Lee’s next chance for a medal comes on Aug. 4 in the uneven bars final.
Simone back on the podium
An atypical mistake on the uneven bars had Simone Biles trailing Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade and Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour after two rotations, an incomprehensible position for a woman who had won 37 all-around titled in a row. Biles needed big scores on balance beam and floor exercise to secure the gold medal.
Biles, to the surprise of no one, delivered. First up on the balance beam on the next rotation, Biles nailed her routine with only the slightest of form checks, to move back ahead of Andrade. She sealed her gold on the floor, where she is pretty much unparalleled.

Three more to add to the collection?
Incredibly, Simone Biles isn’t done yet.
With event final competitions still to come in the vault, balance beam and floor exercise, she could leave Paris with five gold medals, breaking her own record of four set in 2016 in Rio.
Elite company
Simone Biles has won her second Olympic all-around gold medal, only the third woman in history to achieve that double and the first since 1968.

Sunisa Lee claims bronze.
Simone Biles has surely done it
The GOAT is golden for the sixth time in her Olympic career.
Simone Biles secured her second Olympic all-around title with a hit floor routine that saw her keeping all four tumbling passes in bounds (a rarity for the uber powerful gymnast).
She is the best to ever do it, and no one is close.
Simone Biles has done it
She waits for her score but that routine has likely just won her gold.

Rebeca Andrade did what she could
Just like the 2020 Olympic all-around final, Rebeca Andrade stepped out of bounds on a tumbling pass. She showed impressive power and the performance quality of a superstar, but she needed to be perfect if she wanted to get a leg up on Simone Biles' superior difficulty score.
A 14.033 moves her into first, ahead of Sunisa Lee who is guaranteed the bronze.
Rebeca Andrade retakes the lead
Rebeca Andrade scores a 14.033 — WOW!
That means Simone Biles needs 13.868 to win gold.
Rebeca Andrade is delighted
The Brazilian is very pleased with her night’s work. This could be a big score, too!
Rebeca Andrade is up next
She needs 12.566 to move above Sunisa Lee. But she won’t be thinking about that. She will be thinking going as big as pressure to heap the pressure on Simone Biles.
Sunisa Lee deserves this more than anybody
Suni Lee is assured of a medal. What a moment. Lee has been through so much. Diagnosed with two kidney diseases a year ago, she only resumed training in January.
The crowd erupted for her.

Amazing from Sunisa Lee
SUNISA LEE IS AN OLYMPIC ALL-AROUND MEDALIST ONCE AGAIN.
Sunisa Lee has done it!
13.666! That guarantees her at least a bronze.
Sunisa Lee you absolute gamer.
Suni Lee STICKS her opening tumbling pass, a full-twisting double layout with a huge smile. That’s the best I've ever seen her do that pass. She takes a small hop forward on her second pass but stays in bounds. On her final tumbling pass, a double back tuck, she takes a small hops forward.
That could do it. That was her best floor performance yet of these Games.
